It’s hard to
believe that we’re at the end of term one already! It’s been a busy time full of lots of
exciting and fun learning…
Here’s a few
examples of what we’ve been up to.
During the Science Festival we had a visit from Jenny. She taught us how to make paper lanterns. We created our own using our imaginations to create some amazing designs, Jenny explained how they worked and invited us all to join her in more fun science events throughout the festival.
Our topic this
term has been Farming and Technology and we visited the Orkney Museum and had a
tour by Tom. He told us lots of
interesting information about farming and the kind of life we might have had if
we’d lived a long time ago in a farming village. It did not sound like fun!
We have also created models of the earliest farm machinery. Some of the boys and girls who have family who are farmers were very glad that their farm machines have changed a lot over the years!
We had to work
as a team to make our models. Sometimes
it was hard as we had to make compromises but it was worth it!
We’ve been
working really hard to be the healthiest class this term. We’ve run a competition across the school to
see which class would have the most healthy snacks for morning playtime. It’s been interesting at times because
sometimes what we thought was healthy actually has lots of sugar!
